Description

Charlie Brown/Peanuts Ford Falcon Commercial Charlie Brown, Linus, and Snoopy Production Cel and Pan Background (Bill Melendez/Playhouse Pictures, 1961). The star of this historic lot is an incredible pan production gouache painting of a 1962 model Ford Falcon. The car measures a magnificent 8.5" and is parked on a field of Peanuts-style grass (probably drawn by Dean Spille), with Snoopy, in jaunty racing cap, sunglasses, bow tie, and cane, doing a dance while Charlie Brown and Linus come up for a closer look. Charlie and Linus average 1.75", while Snoopy is 2.25". Note that Linus is wearing glasses, which is quite rare (he wore them during a very brief time in the comic strip). The three character cels have been carefully hand-trimmed and attached to a clear sheet of acetate; Snoopy's ears have worked their way loose but are still attached. All the art is in grey tone for filming in black and white. Other than the loose ears, everything appears to be in Fine condition. From the Playhouse Pictures Archive.
