"This past June, you guys helped my father, Richard Falco, sell his collection of Pulp Magazines, which included his prized Shadow #1 and the complete Doc Savage run. If I told you that this event was the highlight of his entire life (including the birth of his children) , I would not be exaggerating. Growing up not ever really fully understanding my father's knack for acquiring collectibles, imagine our surprise when my Dad suddenly became overnight the record holder for the most valuable Pulp Magazine ever sold. We even printed out and framed articles written about him in online forums alongside the Heritage postcard sent out to us in the mail advertising the auction and gave it to him for Father's Day. The event truly meant so much to him and my family, and they only spoke of how wonderful it was to work with all of you through the whole process. I also wanted to share with you that because of that auction, my parents were able to pay off their mortgage on their home, which has been a massive financial relief... I wanted to share with you that Dad passed away last Tuesday, January 17th. He spent 7 months in the Hospital recovering after open heart surgery to implant an LVAD (left ventricular assist device). The recovery had many complications and unfortunately, Dad was never able to recover. We brought him home on hospice on January 12 and he passed away 5 days later at home, surrounded by friends and family. He told his story about The Shadow at least 3 times to people who didn't already know. It truly was his proudest accomplishment and we brought in the framed articles and postcard to him to look at and show friends when they came to say their goodbyes. I wanted to share that the auction took place only a month before Dad ended up in the hospital. His health had been declining for a long time but that truly was one of the last events that occurred before his surgery. He knew it was time to sell his collection and it is truly a miracle that this all occurred before he ended up in the Hospital. It was a relief for Dad to know his collection was in the right hands, and also to know that Mom would be ok financially in the immediate future should he pass. I cannot tell you how many times we talked about it in the hospital; how grateful we are to Heritage and the timing of all of these events. And giving my Dad some of that street cred as the Ultimate Pulp Master really brought him joy. So thank you so much for that."
